Volunteer opportunities at My Sister's House vary throughout the year based on the needs of our programs and the communities we serve. Currently, we are recruiting Helpline Volunteers.

Helpline Volunteer

Be there when someone needs support most.

Our Helpline Volunteers provide direct support to survivors during some of their most difficult moments. We’re looking for compassionate, dependable people who are ready to learn and make a meaningful commitment.

What We're Looking For

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older
Must complete 40 hours of Domestic Violence Advocacy Training (training provided by My Sister’s House)
Commit to at least 3 months of volunteering on the Helpline

We're looking for volunteers who bring:

Empathy and a genuine desire to help others
Cultural openness and the ability to set aside personal biases
Curiosity and a desire to understand domestic violence beyond the surface
Commitment to completing the 40-hour advocate training and continuing to learn
Availability to take Helpline shifts consistently over several months
A willingness to roll up their sleeves and provide direct support to people experiencing crisis

Students & Future Helping Professionals

This can be an especially valuable experience for students pursuing social work, counseling, psycology, or other helping professions who have the time and commitment to engage fully.

Second-language skills are a big plus, but not required.
