Our Story
My Sister’s House began as a community vision to create Sacramento’s first culturally responsive safe haven for Asian and Pacific Islander survivors of domestic violence. Since 2000, we have grown from a grassroots movement into a trusted organization providing shelter, advocacy, and life-changing support. Our journey reflects the strength of survivors, the power of community, and a commitment to safety for all.
Our Mission
Our mission is to serve Asian and Pacific Islander and other underserved women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by providing a culturally appropriate and responsive safe haven, job training, and community services.

Our Vision
Our vision is to eliminate domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in our community.

My Sister’s Café is a social enterprise that supports our mission by addressing one of the biggest hurdles preventing women from leaving their tough situations — financial freedom. The café helps domestic violence survivors not only “get back on their feet” financially, but also provides them with a safe space to learn interpersonal skills and build back their confidence.

Providing culturally responsive care is at the heart of our work. We believe every survivor deserves safety, understanding, and the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and shape their future with dignity and support.
