The purpose of the Community Outreach and Education Program is to raise awareness about the signs of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking across Sacramento’s diverse communities and to educate community members about services and resources available to survivors and their allies.

Rooted in My Sister’s House’s history of serving Asian and Pacific Islander communities, our outreach has expanded to reflect the diverse populations that make up the Sacramento region. All of our presentations, trainings, and workshops are culturally informed, with consideration for the six major cultural and demographic communities represented throughout the region. This approach allows us to provide education that is culturally relevant, accessible, and responsive to the communities we serve.

We work with dozens of agencies and organizations throughout the Central Valley and regularly facilitate community presentations, participate in media interviews, and take part in community festivals and resource fairs. Each year, My Sister’s House also organizes a day-long training institute to educate social service providers about culturally responsive approaches to supporting survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault.
